PROCEDUREv2.10 LOAD TEST 15-freq/R UTIL PROMPT /R /R /R /R MULTI-TRACK TAPE RECORDER TESTS/R /R The following tests were made with two input switchers and two output/R switchers. The switchers were connected to tracks 10 through 24 of/R the 24-track recorder, operating at 30 ips. Each graph will pause for/R examination. You may use the horizontal arrow keys to move a graphic/R cursor on the screen. To move to the next screen after examining each/R graph, press ./R /R FREQUENCY RESPONSE/R /R The first graph is record-reproduce frequency response. Notice that the/R response of switcher channel 15 (recorder track 24) at low frequency/R is different from all the others due to magnetic fringing effects at/R the edge of the tape./R /R Press to obtain the graph./E /F7/F10/E LOAD TEST 15t-mol3/R UTIL PROMPT /R /R /R /R DISTORTION vs AMPLITUDE (MOL)/R /R /R The following graph displays 3rd harmonic distortion of the 1 kHz/R signal vs recorder input amplitude in dBu. The tape machine was set/R up for 0 VU = +4 dBu. 3rd harmonic-only measurements were obtained/R by an FBP-3000 optional filter plugged into socket #3./R /R Press to obtain the graph./E /F7/F10/E LOAD TEST 15-crstk/R UTIL PROMPT /R /R /R /R WORST-CASE CROSSTALK vs FREQUENCY/R /R /R The "complement" mode of the output switchers was used to automatically/R drive all input channels of the recorder except the one currently being/R measured. The measurement, in BANDPASS mode to allow measurement below/R the wide-band noise level, thus consists of crosstalk coming from all/R possible sources simultaneously. The test proceeds through all channels,/R with the generator and bandpass filter sweeping the full audio spectrum/R on each channel. Note that low-frequency crosstalk was lower into the/R two outside tracks being tested (switcher channels 1 and 15, tracks 10 and/R 24) since no signal was being applied to the track beyond in these cases./R /R Press to view the graph./E /F7/F10/E LOAD TEST 15-gapsc/R UTIL PROMPT /R /R /R /R GAP SCATTER/R /R /R One input of the phase meter and one output of the generator were/R connected to a center track of the recorder (track 12, switcher channel/R 3) while the generator output and other input of the phase meter were/R scanned across all active channels. The test was conducted at a 10 kHz/R frequency. The graph thus shows phase difference vertically vs channel/R number horizontally. This is a measurement of how accurately the gaps/R in the head are aligned./R /R Press to view the graph./E /F7/F10/F1/E RUN EXIT UTIL END
